Selection Criteria & Process

To be considered for LWCF assistance, the parent must:

• Live in the LWCF service area: Chesterfield/Colonial Heights, Henrico, Richmond City, Petersburg, Hopewell and Hanover,
• Is expecting a child or has a baby that is 12 months or younger for baskets or 3 months or younger the baby shower,
• Demonstrates a significant need for baby essentials, and
• Not have received assistance from LWCF in the last 18 months.

Once a referral is submitted, it is received by our all-volunteer team. The intake process can take between 1 - 4 weeks.

• We aim to review and have an initial call with the referring person in 7-10 business days.
• If the referred parent is selected for assistance, LWCF will contact the mom to confirm the need and arrange for a basket pick-up/delivery.
• If the referred parent is not able to be assisted at this time, the referring person will be notified via email.

We aim to support parents in need, yet please note we are not a crisis organization. We have an intake process that can take 1-4 weeks.
